Too Much of a Good Thing?

‘Tis the Season – No, we have not rewound the calendar to December.  It’s Girl Scout Cookie Season.  Happy days….

I’ve been a Girl Scout leader since my daughter who is now in 6th grade was in 1st grade.  We have had many adventures, but some of our favorite revolve around selling cookies.  Can’t help it – I was raised in a retail family and I like to sell.  My daughter has the same genes.

We did realize early on that it is super-important to stay organized (you wanted how many boxes?) and to show our gratitude to her customers.  We discovered early that a very personal way to do this is by creating a 4″x6″ card in my digital scrapbook program.  I’ve been using Storybook Creator Plus from Creative Memories.  Sadly, with the closing of CM, you can no longer get this fantastic program, but there are others out there that you can use.  I use my digi scrap program for MANY things that have nothing to do with scrapbooking.

I print out a bunch of these cards as photos at the beginning of the season and we are ready to go.  We have done a number of fun cards over the years.  They often involve a photo of her and the cookies in some way, shape or form.  This year she opted for no photo, but we came up with something very “tweeny”.

Cookie TY Blank

The ones I print for her actually have a note of thanks at the bottom and her name, but I’ve posted one that you can actually use yourself!

I’d love to hear what other Girl Scouts do.  Happy Cookie Sales!

Wedding Gratitude

The last few weeks have been a blur as we’ve made it through the end of school and the beginning of “wedding month” for my sister.  The good news is there have been lots of opportunities to be creative!

Here is a quick project my daughter and I did this afternoon.  We will be making something like this for my sister’s wedding and wanted to make her a sample.  She will be free to change shape, font, paper & colors.

Materials Used:

  • Cottage Garden paper by K&Company
  • White Shimmer Cardstock by Creative Memories
  • Brown Cardstock by Creative Memories
  • 5/8″ sheer ribbon

Cricut Cuts:

  • Scallop Circle (CM Stork’s Delivery) cut at 5″
  • Circle (CM Stork’s Delivery) cut at 4″
  • Sleigh Ride Font (CM ‘Tis the Season) cut at 3.3″

I love making banners.  Such a quick way to make something fun and feel a sense of accomplishment!

ConGRADulations!

I love to make my own greeting cards to share with friends and family.  Although not everyone appreciates the effort, I feel like it is sending a little more love than buying one off the store shelf.  Here are a set of graduation cards I made recently.

Grad Cards

These cards are made using Creative Memories current line of graduation products.  We offer a set of stickers and a package of paper.  The paper is stunning and most of it can be used for many occasions other than graduation.  Weddings, retirements, anniversaries are just a few of the other uses for this beautiful paper.  A number f CM tools were used including the newest “notebook” cartridge for the BorderMaker and the “circle tag” for the ShapeMaker.  One trick I employed to add a little texture to the cards was to pop up many of the title blocks.  Since these were actually stickers, I needed to de-sticky them first which I did by dipping them in cornstarch (baby powder works too).

Hope these inspire you to offer your congratulations to the graduates in your life!
